Helpful Gran

Claire has to go in to see her boss about returning to work. Complicated given the BBC’s recent announcements about cost-cutting and redundancies…
So, Claire can’t have that conversation with Leo screaming, which he might, so we asked my mum if she could come down to look after him, pace up and down the pavement outside the BBC (along with teenies queueing for top of the pops…) while claire has her meeting.
It’s really nice to be able to ask for help like that, and nice to feel that Leo can be looked after by the wider family as well as just us. Next stop, weekends in Venice while Leo holidays in Herts or Lincs!
As mum says, there’s a generational payback. So i’ll be off to who-knows-where to look after Leo’s children in thirty years time. If i’m as sweet a grandparent as Leo’s 4, then i’ll be beating down his door for the opportunity!
